Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to tours, experiences and related travel services offered under the name Marvels of Egypt. Marvels of Egypt is a travel brand operated by a licensed Egyptian Egyptologist tour guide based in Egypt (“we”, “us”, “our”). Depending on the nature of the booked service, we work with licensed tour guides, authorized transportation providers, tourism companies, accommodation providers and other authorized local service providers where required. By confirming a booking with us, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. Booking Process

Bookings and inquiries may be made through WhatsApp, email, Instagram, Facebook or other communication channels made available by Marvels of Egypt. Before booking, we will discuss relevant details with you, which may include your preferred itinerary, travel dates, number of travelers, accommodation requirements and any additional services requested. Based on these details, we will provide you with an itinerary or description of the agreed services together with the applicable price.

A booking is considered confirmed only when:

  1. the agreed deposit has been received by us; and

  1. we have sent you written confirmation of the booking.

Written confirmation may be provided by WhatsApp, email or another agreed written communication channel.

2. Prices and Quotations

Tour prices are determined individually and may depend on factors including the itinerary, number of travelers, accommodation, season, transportation requirements, duration and additional services requested. Prices may be quoted in different currencies. Our preferred currencies are EUR and USD. Prices displayed on our website, including any future “from” or starting prices, are indicative unless expressly stated otherwise. The price applicable to your booking is the price stated in your individual quotation or booking confirmation. Once the agreed deposit has been received and the booking has been confirmed by us in writing, the agreed price is considered confirmed, subject to any later changes requested by the customer. Where a customer requests changes after confirmation, any resulting additional costs may be charged separately.

3. Deposit and Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, a 25% deposit of the total agreed price is required to confirm a booking. The remaining balance is generally payable upon arrival or at the time specified in the individual booking confirmation. Different payment arrangements may apply to certain tours or services and will be communicated before booking. Any bank, payment-provider, currency-conversion or transfer fees associated with making or receiving payments are not included in the tour price unless expressly agreed otherwise.

4. What Is Included

Only services specifically stated as included in the individual quotation or booking confirmation are included in the agreed price. The inclusions and exclusions shown on individual tour pages are intended to help travelers understand the general structure of each experience. However, because tours may be customized, the individual quotation and booking confirmation will determine the services included in a specific booking. Optional services or extras requested by the customer may result in additional charges.

5. Entrance Tickets

Unless expressly stated otherwise in the individual quotation or booking confirmation, entrance tickets and admission fees are not included in the tour price. Certain tours may include entrance fees. Where this is the case, this will be stated in the booking details. Guests may purchase excluded entrance tickets themselves, and we may assist with information regarding the appropriate tickets or online booking process. Some archaeological sites offer optional additional tickets, such as access to particular tombs or special areas. These are at the guest’s discretion and expense unless specifically included in the booking. Where an entrance ticket is expressly included in the confirmed price and the relevant authority subsequently increases the admission fee, we will absorb that increase. Where entrance fees are excluded, the guest is responsible for the admission price applicable at the time of the visit. Accepted payment methods at archaeological sites, museums and attractions are determined by the relevant authorities and may change.

6. Customer Cancellations

Unless different cancellation conditions are communicated before booking, the following policy applies. For cancellations made 30 days or more before the scheduled start of the tour, the deposit may be refunded, less applicable bank, payment-provider or transfer fees and any non-refundable third-party costs that were disclosed or necessarily incurred for the booking. For cancellations made less than 30 days before the scheduled start of the tour, the deposit is generally non-refundable. This is because we may already have made commitments or advance payments for accommodation, Dahabiyas, camps, transportation or other third-party services that cannot be cancelled or refunded. If a particular service requires a non-refundable payment more than 30 days before the tour, we will aim to make this clear as part of the individual booking arrangements. In the event of a no-show, the deposit will not be refunded. Where possible, we may allow a customer to change the travel date instead of cancelling. Date changes are subject to availability, and any additional costs resulting from the change — including accommodation, transportation or other third-party charges — are the responsibility of the customer.

7. Changes Requested by the Customer

We understand that travel plans can change and will make reasonable efforts to accommodate requested itinerary or date changes. Changes are subject to availability. Any additional costs resulting from customer-requested changes will be communicated and charged accordingly. Changes requested after non-refundable third-party services have already been booked may also be subject to the cancellation or modification policies of those providers.

8. Changes to the Itinerary

Travel in Egypt can be affected by circumstances outside our control.

We therefore reserve the right to make reasonable changes to the order, timing, route or individual stops of an itinerary when necessary because of circumstances such as:

  • weather conditions;

  • road conditions or closures;

  • government or authority instructions;

  • archaeological site or attraction closures;

  • safety considerations;

  • transportation issues;

  • operational requirements;

  • permit restrictions; or

  • other circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

Where reasonably possible, we will attempt to provide a suitable alternative experience or adjust the itinerary in a way that preserves the overall character of the booked tour.

9. Cancellation by Us

If we are unable to provide the entire booked tour, we will offer the customer the choice, where reasonably possible, between:

  • an alternative date;

  • an alternative tour or comparable arrangement; or

  • a refund of amounts paid to us for the cancelled tour.

Bank, payment-provider, currency-conversion and transfer charges are not refundable by us to the extent they are charged by independent financial or payment providers and are not returned to us. Nothing in these Terms is intended to exclude any refund or other right that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.

10. Attraction Closures and External Circumstances

Archaeological sites, museums, tombs, monuments and other attractions may occasionally close, restrict access or change their operating hours without prior notice. Such decisions are outside our control. We are not responsible for closures or access restrictions imposed by government authorities, archaeological-site management or other responsible third parties. Where reasonably possible, we will adjust the itinerary or offer a suitable alternative. If an entrance ticket was not included in the tour price, no refund from Marvels of Egypt is due for an admission fee that the customer did not pay to us.

11. Tour Guides, Transportation and Other Service Providers

Guided tours are conducted by licensed tour guides. Depending on the booking, your tour may be guided by the operator of Marvels of Egypt or another appropriately licensed tour guide. We also work with authorized transportation providers, tourism companies and other service providers where required for the relevant service, route, group or activity. Certain bookings may require permits, approvals or the involvement of an appropriately licensed tourism company. Where required, these arrangements are made through the relevant authorized provider. Customers normally make the agreed booking payment to us, and we coordinate payments to the relevant service providers as necessary.

12. Hotels, Accommodation and Desert Camps

For multi-day journeys, accommodation may either be arranged by us or booked independently by the customer. Where accommodation is arranged by us, the agreed accommodation or accommodation category will be stated as part of the booking arrangements. Where the customer books accommodation independently, that booking is the responsibility of the customer and is subject to the terms of the relevant accommodation provider. Certain desert experiences involve camping rather than conventional hotel accommodation. For example, overnight experiences in the Black and White Desert may involve camps organized with local Bedouin providers. Guests should understand that desert camping is naturally more basic than conventional hotel accommodation. Facilities such as private bathrooms, electricity, internet access, climate control and other hotel-style amenities may be limited or unavailable depending on the location and experience. Where an agreed accommodation becomes unavailable for reasons outside our reasonable control, we may arrange a reasonably comparable alternative where possible.

13. Traveler Responsibilities

Each traveler is responsible for ensuring that they have all necessary and valid travel documentation, including passports, visas and any other documents required for entry into or travel within Egypt. Travelers are responsible for obtaining appropriate travel and medical insurance for their trip. Guests must arrive at agreed meeting or pickup points at the agreed time. Delays caused by late arrival may result in changes to the itinerary or missed services. Travelers must follow reasonable safety instructions given by guides, drivers, service providers or relevant authorities. Each traveler remains responsible for their own personal belongings. Guests should inform us before the tour of any relevant mobility requirements, dietary requirements, allergies or other circumstances that may affect the safe or appropriate delivery of the booked experience. Travelers are responsible for assessing whether a particular activity is suitable for them and should raise any concerns before booking or participating.

14. Children and Minors

Children and minors remain under the responsibility and supervision of their parent or legal guardian throughout the tour. For desert tours, we generally recommend a minimum age of five years due to the nature of desert travel, driving conditions and overnight experiences. This is a recommendation rather than a universal age restriction unless otherwise stated for a particular activity. Children may receive a different price from adults. Any applicable child price will be stated in the individual quotation or booking confirmation.

15. Complaints and Problems During a Tour

If you experience a problem during your tour, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible by WhatsApp, telephone or email. Reporting an issue during the tour gives us the opportunity to investigate the situation and, where possible, resolve it while the service is still taking place. Complaints submitted after the tour should preferably be made in writing within 14 days after the end of the tour and should include sufficient information for us to understand and investigate the issue. This requested reporting period does not limit any mandatory legal rights that cannot lawfully be restricted.

16. Photography and Marketing

Booking a tour with Marvels of Egypt does not automatically give us permission to use identifiable photographs or videos of you for marketing purposes. We may ask guests separately for permission to use particular photographs or videos on our website, social media channels or other marketing materials. We will only use identifiable guest images for such purposes where the guest has given consent. Consent may be provided in writing, including through WhatsApp or email.

17. Website Information

We make reasonable efforts to keep the information on the Marvels of Egypt website accurate and up to date. However, itineraries, opening hours, entrance fees, travel times, routes, availability and other information involving third parties or external circumstances may change without notice. Website tour descriptions provide general information about the experiences we offer. For a confirmed booking, the individual quotation and booking confirmation determine the specific services and inclusions agreed with the customer.

18. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, the original text, branding, design elements, photographs and other content published by Marvels of Egypt may not be reproduced, republished or used for commercial purposes without prior permission. Third-party trademarks, images or other materials remain the property of their respective owners.

19. Force Majeure and Circumstances Beyond Our Control

We are not responsible for failure or delay in providing services where this results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. These circumstances may include, without limitation, extreme weather, natural disasters, government actions, security restrictions, civil disturbances, road closures, border restrictions, site closures, strikes, epidemics, transportation disruption or other comparable events. Where such circumstances affect a booking, we will make reasonable efforts to modify the itinerary, arrange an alternative or otherwise find a practical solution. Any refund or alternative arrangement will depend on the circumstances of the affected booking, amounts actually recoverable from third-party providers and any mandatory rights available under applicable law.

20. Third-Party Services

Some elements of a journey are provided by independent third parties, including accommodation providers, transportation providers, boat operators, camps, restaurants, tourism companies and other local service providers. Where third-party services form part of your confirmed booking, we coordinate those services as part of the agreed arrangements. However, independent providers remain responsible for the operation of their own services and are subject to applicable laws, licences, safety requirements and operating conditions. Nothing in these Terms excludes responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.

21. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions and bookings made under them are governed by the laws of the Arab Republic of Egypt, subject to any mandatory consumer rights or other protections that apply and cannot lawfully be excluded by agreement. We encourage customers to contact us directly first if a dispute arises so that we can attempt to resolve the matter promptly and fairly.
